Mirc-The other internet relay server.
Mirc is a chat program much like iRC. You can download it at mirc.com. However, Mirc is less crash prone and has many more options than iRC does. You can change colors, set up scripts (highly complicated walls of text that can allow to do many MIRC functions), and more.
But don't forget the rest of it; Mirc is shareware. After a 30 day trial period, you'll need to fork up some cash to register it. This allows you to continue using whatever version you have and all further versions availible. I reccomend paying. You can skip using the continue button, and Khaled Mardam-Bey must sneak up on you and kill you in your sleep (ala Freddy Krueger) if you don't! LOL. To set up MIRC once you get it, all you REALLY need to do is type a nickname, an email, and a name in the boxes provided. Don't worry about the other stuff until you become skilled with it. Click Connect to Server (and hope it connects!). If you want to connect to #yvd and #xct (and you should seeing you came to this site for YVD help!) then you have to switch servers. Type /s irc.scrollrack.com. You will now be on scrollrack and be able to access and yvd channels including #yvd, #helpdesk, #scripting, #xct, and al the clans. Good luck!

- YVD skins make your dueling field look better than the boring crap YVD serves you the first time. They are downloadable on the skins page of scrollrack.com/japanese. Once you download the skins, follow the instructions below.
1.)All items downloaded off the intraweb are Winzip; it's the first rule in the intraweb bible, so save your skin to the (HardDiskLetter):ProgramFilesYVDSkins* folder. Extract it to the same place.
*If you saved YVD somewhere else on your HD, choose that folder. If you do not have Windows, I know nothing about macs. >.>;.
2.)Once all the files are extracted, go into YVD. Select Settings on the startup screen. Click the "Browse..." button next to the Skins box. Choose the skin folder you have an unzipped skin in. Select the file that says settings. You can only choose your skin using a settings.ini file. If you did this right, your skin should show up on YVD. Click Save Settings and Exit to return to YVD.
3.)Close YVD.

Be sure to check xerocreative.com as well as scrollrack.com. Scrollrack now has a few skins (some of the same ones as the OCG Scrollrack page) and new card sets come out every once in a while. XeroCreative also offers YVD updates from time to time. Be sure to check hamchi.cc and mIRC.com for updates as well if you use either of those programs.
